Dearest
rustedsigns let me know this morning that there is a cruise ship in the Antarctic that hit an iceberg and is sinking- everyone that was on board is completely OK.
Now, my father is currently on a cruise in the Antarctic. He is, in fact, on the Nordnorge, and that ship, according to some articles, is helping rescue a bunch of the passengers from the sinking ship. I confirmed with the travel agency (news cannot be trusted) and my father and step-mom are ok.
They should have some good stories when they get home.
Heart attack averted.
However, I am, apparently Quite Ill today. Who infected me?!?! Sore throat, can barely swallow, no fever, no aches or pains. I've been Throated!

I turn 32 in 22 days.
We're ok. Can't get a line out to check on my Dad and my store manager who were closer to it than we were... worried.
Edit: Cell phone is not quite working getting a consistent line out but I reached my father. Dad is only a few miles from the epicenter. He's fine. Sounds very nervous (type of humor he used when I called to check on him), but otherwise fine.
Steve and the store are ok.
It was a big-ish quake. Nothing fell here, but the whole house rolled for a while.

I needs ideas for what to go as on Halloween. I'm having a party at my Store. I want to be comfortable for a long day of work (so nothing super short).
What do you suggest?
Someone else is going has Hunter Thompson. Though a female HT would be funny...
Angel?
Fairy?
Forest Fairly
Goddess?
Flapper?
Pirate Wench?
Zombie Prom Queen? (Zombies *are* the new black, donchaknow?)

Today was going along just fine. I was tired but going to zoom off to work after a bit of rest and email catch-up. So, off I go to Do My Day, when I nearly run into a cat that runs across the road in front of my car, which was kinda good 'cause I was even more aware when I saw my friend/neighbor's dogs loose in a yard down the street, with some other loose dog.
My friend's dogs, Ranger and Sniper (yes they are a military family), have broken free every day this week. Earlier this week, Crystal, Ray and I circled our hills for a while until a random neighbor helped us find them.
Back to today: I find out the third loose dog somehow got out of the garage he/she was supposed to be in, and all three Shits were in front of his/her house. Got that dog squared away and secure with water as soon as I got Crystal's dogs into my car. Right then Ray was driving down the street to come home. We trade cars since I was running late, so he could go and put them back at Crystal's and find out how they got loose this time (Crystal works 30 minutes away and couldn't get home right away, and her husband is away on a trip).
Ray gets to their house, lets them out of the car and Ranger sees a deer and both damn dogs take off after it into the forest area that Crystal's house is near. I drive back home and we circled the hills here for over an hour in our cars with no luck of finding them. Crystal is still looking for them as I type this.
Go home to rest for bit to find my cat limping. She's torn her rear paw open. Fortunately, she was very hungry and tired, so I distracted her with food while Ray grabbed a carrier and then we had an unpleasant moment of shoving a tired/injured/independent cat into a cage. Not fun. She "MEOW!!!!"ed at me the entire 15 minute drive to the vet, where she is getting fixed up. I'm sure the bill will be a few hundred dollars.
Maisy, in the meantime, was at the groomers, so she is pooped now. And, little does she know, but we need to try and keep Wilbur in the house for a few days while her kitty wound heals. Maisy does Not like Wilbur. Jealousy in the Extreme.
I'm tired.
Edited to add:
The vet thinks Wilbur was hit by a car. He had to reconstruct a couple of her toes (EEW!) and her foot is all bandaged up. She keeps trying to get it off. Step, step, kick kick, step, step, kick kick. Very Chorus Girl-y. We get to try and keep her in the house for a few days while she heals. This will be hard for her because I don't think she knows what the litterbox is for and she's used to her independence. Hard for us, 'cause... Maisy hates her, Ray is allergic to too much contact and I'm worried she's going to start Meow-ing in the middle of the night or try to sleep on me.

Interviews from Fanboy Planet Podcast from the day of my Store's Opening. My friends who came to sign their comics are all interviewed, and I was interviewed as well.
I don't even sound like a moron. :)
I do crack me up.

In case you don't listen to NPR but adore Stephen Colbert the way I do, here's the link to the podcast thingy for last week's interview.
I want his book on CD 'cause then I'll have something to listen to on my next drive to LA. And also, 'cause I like hearing him talk. He's freakin' hi-ar-i-ous.
